barley booster box top

barley booster box top

box top made from an antique feedsack

this particular piece used to contain 100 pounds of poultry booster. the graphics are fading and unless really getting close to inspect what it says - just add a nice bit of color and shape to the top.

made from cotton canvas - worn to perfection over 50 years of existence. one side of the shirt has a hemmed edge and the other is frayed but sewn to protect from unraveling. to best preserve raw edges, hang dry or tumble dry low.

measurements taken laying flat:

length (top to bottom) = 18.5”

width = 33”

neck diameter = 8.5”

arm opening = 9”

feedsacks were known for their durability - often carrying up to 100 pounds of grain, flour, salt or animal feed. they were commonly repurposed in the household as clothing, towels or however they could be put to use. it is my goal to preserve and display their stains, holes and frays as badges of their past experiences. i hope they will continue to gather many memories in their new homes.
